April 10, 2005 Ride

The Clubman show was packed this year. The marc was Triumph, so there were plenty of them. As for our Hinckley's? Yes, there were some, and they were among best.

The Hinckley award went to Brian Odom with his beautiful Limited Bonnie. Thanks to Cal-Triumph our sponsor! Brian's Bonnie was so Classic looking it was easy to skip by thinking it was a restored Meriden Triumph. This was a milestone for our Hinckley bikes.

The Pack thanks all of you who participated in the show and those that also stopped in to see the wonderful bikes. People were impressed by the outstanding workmanship that our bikes have produced since the old days.

Well, we finally fit in with the rest of the British wonders, except ours don't leak...

The ride was nice. There were many bikes of all marcs streaming down the roads up to Alice's. It was a great mixture to be seen, for sure. The slower (way older) bikes took the route of Hwy 9 to Skyline, while the others veered off to the smaller, more twisty roads. I believe not many people had seen so many British bikes ride into Alice’s at one given time. It was a beautiful day as well.

I will say that one BSA (scrambler) left the road on the way up, and I was behind him. He was not actually trying to ride the dirt; he just ended up in it and slid into the dirt. I stopped along with another riding buddy, Mike Pawlack, and got the bike back up. The rider (a die hard no doubt) said he was fine and bent the brake lever back out, adjusted the broken mirror, moved his levers back into place and dusted off himself and the bike then off he went! How many of you can remember those days? Ahhh, let me count...

Anyway, overall, it was a good ride and it was wonderful to see those of you out there on your new kids!

Well the days a fading and so am I, see you at the next meeting which will be at the Prince of Wales in San Mateo!

Ride safe kids!
