Bay Area RAT

September 9-11, 2005 Ride

RAT Raid Report

The RAT Raid was way cool. We met at my house in the morning and picked up others on the way up to Tahoe. The weather was a bit on the cool side. When we got to the Cal-Neva, there were quite a few Triumphs lined up along the entrance to the Hotel. We were greeted in the Indian Room. We registered and were handed our RAT Packages. At 6 pm there was a poolside reception party (although it was too cold to really enjoy the pool), it was hosted by Freedom Cycle/Triumph Reno. They had heating lamps and we clustered around them like moths. The food was finger food and it was great. We had nice appetizers that were from many different ethnic group recopies. Saturday, we were briefed on the many different rides we could go on. There were really no scheduled group rides, but lot of choices from the maps they provided us.

Carollyn and Mike and I decided to go to Virginia City. It was a nice little town and had lots of interesting attractions, like the camel and emu races. Talk about strange... Carollyn and I managed to come across a pet Jaguar. (No, not the one with four wheels). We got our pictures taken with Sheeba who was a pretty cat indeed.

At 6 pm, we had our group photo in the Sinatra Showroom and we were entertained by the Grand RAT Pubars Greg and Matt who were wearing kilts along with some of the other Triumph lot. There were some really great prizes to be had. Our dinner was grand. The food excellent and the company were wonderful. On Sunday we grouped for breakfast and some went on more rides and others left to go home. Some folks came from pretty far away. It was a nice venture and I thank those of you in the Pack that went.
